Arindam:-
Hello! Viewers! Once again, welcome to your favourite show, ‘WINE WITH ARINDAM’
in ‘ROYAL BENGAL TIGERS TV’ (RBTTV) Channel. Today, we have in our show a
famous businessman of Kolkata whose name is Mr. Sain. Welcome to our show, Mr.
Sain. We are going to enjoy Old Vintage French Red Wine with Desi Chicken Tangri
Kabab and have a nice informal chat session. Cheers!
Mr.
Sain: -Cheers! It is really a good ambience and the taste of this Red Wine is
just awesome.
Arindam:-
You are the proprietor of a Transport Company, ‘SAFFRON BUS TRAVELS’ and you
have started your business from Kolkata itself. All the buses of your company
are Circular Buses, i.e. the Buses start from a point and then complete a
circular route to reach that point again to complete a trip. All your Buses are
saffron in colour. Drivers and Conductors of your Buses wear a light sky
coloured formal shirt and a navy blue trouser. It is their uniform. There is a
logo of your company in each shirt and trouser. Your company has provided 3
sets of uniform to all its employees. The minimum bus fare of your Bus is Rs. 5
upto 5 Kms and it rises by 1 rupee for every increase in 5 Kms thereafter. That
is, the maximum bus fare is Rs. 10 and that is upto 30 Kms. Now, please tell us
in details about other aspects of your business.
Mr.
Sain:- I had a plan to enter in Transport business in Kolkata because Kolkata
is still the only Metropolitan City of India, where it has a weak Transport
System. But, I was also sceptical whether to start a business in Kolkata or
not, because, be it CPI (M) or TMC, both are same. The negative attitude still
exists among the spineless Bengalis. ‘Hobe na, korte dabo na, cholche na,
cholbe na. Chakka Bandh. Bangla Bandh.’ All these bullshit slogans are like
mantras for the Bengali trade union people and Bengali illiterate politicians.
Arindam:-
Were you forced to bribe the Transport Department of Bengal to get a route
permit and start a Transport Business in Kolkata?
Mr.
Sain:- Well, I don’t want to answer this type of odd question. I don’t want any
controversy. Anyway, I got the permission to run my own buses. I always thought
of having a route which touches all the nodal points or important business hubs
of Kolkata City. At present, I am having two routes. One is Bus No. 69 and
another one is Bus No. 96. Both are Circular Buses. I have bought a plot near
Joka Management to make a garage cum Bus Depot for my buses. There are 20
buses. 10 buses for Route No. 69 and 10 buses for Route No. 96. The route of Bus
No. 69 is from JOKA->TARATALA(Through James Long Sarani)->NEW ALIPORE->BHAWANIPORE->DHARMATALA->SEALDAH->BURRABAZAR->HOWRAH->BABUGHAT->KHIDDERPORE->BEHALA(Through
Diamond Harbour Road)->JOKA. It completes a trip for Bus No. 69. The route
of Bus No. 96 is from JOKA ->TARATALA (Through Diamond Harbour Road)->MOMINPORE->PTS->PARK
CIRCUS (Through Park Circus Flyover)->EM BYPASS->CHINGRIGHATA->SECTOR-V->KARUNAMOYEE->BELEGHATA->RUBY
HOSPITAL or DESUN MORE->CHETLA->NEW ALIPORE->TARATALA -> JOKA
(Through James Long Sarani). It completes a trip for Bus No. 96.
Arindam:-
How is the response in your Buses during office hours?
Mr.
Sain:- Very good response. Actually, a trip for both Bus No. 69 and 96 has to
be completed within 150 minutes from the time of starting the trip. There are 2
Transport Officers (TO) in our Bus Depot whose role is to check or inspect the
arrival time and the departure time of all our buses. If any bus fails to
complete a trip within 150 minutes, then Rs. 100/- is deducted from the
salaries of both the Driver and the Conductor of that bus. Generally, all our
buses complete the trip within time unless there is any huge traffic jam.
Sometimes, our TOs take those traffic jams and Road Blockades into
consideration. Our Buses compete with the Express Buses as we have good quality
Bus Drivers and Conductors. The Uniform Code among our employees and a fixed
salary system automatically motivates our employees. There are 25 Drivers where
4 Drivers are on contractual basis. There are 26 Conductors where 3 Conductors
are on contractual basis. Full Time employees have a fixed salary along with
additional perks. Contractual employees are on wage system as per hourly basis.
Fixed Salary of a Full Time Driver is Rs. 3000/-, a Full Time Conductor is Rs.
2000/- and a Transport Officer is Rs. 5000/-. In the last quarter itself, our
company increased its net profit by 8.2% despite recruiting 7 more employees.
We also have a plan to have a circular bus route to connect Budge Budge with
Joka and Baruipur with Joka.
Arindam:-
Fantastic! You are doing a great job, Mr. Sain. Young businessmen of Kolkata
may get inspired by seeing the growth of your business. Thanks for coming to
our show. So, Viewers! See you later. Goodbye!
